Chamber Music
A Note from the Artistic Director of SoNo Chamber Music Series, Dr. Galina Zisk Rothschild
It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you my new Chamber Music Series! This is a great opportunity to make great music together with some of the world’s leading musicians and to present performances of not only standard repertoire, but also new music, international music, as well as Jazz. The style of our concerts is warm and welcoming to all music lovers and always includes commentary and conversation about the music we perform and its history.
Our first season began with performances on April 3 and April 10, 2011, at Gregory Cole Antiques & Home, a unique and beautiful venue. Our performers were Yevgeny Faniuk, Flute, Cecee Pantikian, Violin, Andrew Janss, Cello. We presented a Trio Sonata by C.P.E. Bach, a new work by Mike Mowers, Sonata Latino, Halvosen’s transcription of Handel’s famous Passacaglia, and to celebrate 90th Birthday Anniversary of Astor Piazzolla, we performed the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, arranged for Piano Trio.
June 12th concert featureed Mike “Spike” Wilner, a Jazz Pianist and manager of the legendary NYC club “Smalls” and an incredible musician and Clarinetist, Julian Milkis.
Our 2012 season continues with a Piano Trio performance in Greenwich, CT. Musicians joining me will be Marina Kitaychik, Violin, and Andrea Mills, Cello. We will be performing works by Haydn, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, and Piazzolla.
We hope that you will join us and we will update and announce the dates of other future performances.
